Gary R. Galloway has been the Deputy Director of the Office of Information Assurance since May 2007. He was Deputy Director and Director for Business Technology of the Office of eDiplomacy from April 2003-May 2007, and has served in various State Department IT management positions since 1993. Mr. Galloway is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and ITIL® V3 Foundation Certified, with more than twenty years of project management experience, specializing in IT acquisition.
Mr. Galloway began his career with the Department of Interior and worked briefly at the Office of Personnel Management and the Department of Labor prior to coming to State in 1986. He is the recipient of numerous Department awards, including the Superior Honor Award in 2006. This year, Mr. Galloway was selected as a 2013 Federal 100 Award winner.
Mr. Galloway is an active member of the American Council for Technology (ACT), a graduate of the Industry Advisory Council (IAC) IT Partners Program, and a member of the Government Advisory Panel for IAC’s Cybersecurity Special Interest Group. Mr. Galloway served as the Government Co-Chair for the ACT-IAC 2010 Management of Change Conference and was past co-Treasurer of the Association for Federal Information Resources Management (AFFIRM). He is a mentor for the Department of State Civil Service Mentoring program and GovLoop Mentors, winning FedScoop’s 2012 FedMentor of the Year award. Mr. Galloway has been a panelist or guest speaker at numerous IT-related events and has served as a member of the Symantec Government Symposium Advisory Group, and Government Co-Chair of AFCEA Bethesda’s Charity Golf Tournament and Children’s Inn at NIH Charity Gala.
Mr. Galloway earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and was awarded a Master of Science degree in National Resource Strategy with an Information Strategies Concentration from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, National Defense University.
